Berlin

I've been to Berlin before in the summer of 2010. The wonderful hot weather made it perfect to visit outdoor craft markets. This time, we arrived to a very snowy Berlin. Much better to visit museums.

The Jewish Museum is a must-go.

Got to see Menashe Kadishman's installation "Shalechet" (Fallen Leaves). The silent screams the iron faces made in the memory void. The weight of those faces when you try to pick them up. Expressed the heaviness of the injustice that was dealt on so many innocent people.

And such great fortune to bump into a friend from the Melbourne days! Hong Yi is also the creative sort, in fact, you might have seen her art somewhere on the internet.

p.s. We spent four hours in the Jewish Museum, so you should give yourself loads of time and not be rushed around.

  1. I LOVE Berlin! It's my favorite European city! I've been there many times, nut never in witertime. The museums are outstanding, I do agree!!! I spent hours and hours in the Ethnological Museum (Museum für Völkerkunde), visited the Egyptian Museum... and others! I haven't been in the Jewish Museum, but I visited the Big Synagogue.
I love the city parks too, they are wonderful!
