When it comes to paper fun, I'm always in. I really love the plethora of handmade heart garlands that can be found on Etsy. I can't resist but be inspired to make my own verson.
Note: This is not a copy of what they make. It's a much simpler version. I actually staple my hearts together, which some of you might think is unsophisticated. These sellers actually spend their time making the most elegant heart garlands. You can't see any staples in them!

Here they are with strings attached which you can tie on a long string later.
You need:
Paper
String/ Yarn
A cutter
A ruler
A stapler
Cut thin strips of about 25 cm long (about 10").
Fold into half.
So what happens is you are going to turn the two ends inward
and make the two ends touch the inner fold of the centre.
Take yarn and place on the centre of one end of the strip.
At this point if you would like to staple or stick with tape the yarn
to the strip 2-3 cm from the end, do so.
I did.
Not finding any time, I stapled it, which might be unsightly
for the perfectionist in you. For now, it doesn't matter, since I could
not find my tape dispenser... or wait, I don't own one. If you have tape, use tape.
So, the heart is now assembled.
Staple everything together neatly.
Fin.
Now try to take the thought of that staple out of your mind!

ReplyDeleteSimple, but beautiful ...
when simple is the best ! this is BRILLIANT, I love them !
ReplyDeleteVery cool. I made a much more complex one for Valentine's day this year - it had about 5 or 6 layers, but after it had been hanging for about a month (I didn't want to take it down), with all the humidity from rain it started to flop.
ReplyDelete:)Your design would stop that.
